English I Pre-AP Lesson Plan, Week 8

Monday- Students will respond to a quote from William Wordsworth, complete a Google Form Test on “The Cask of Amontillado” and “The Tell-Tale Heart,” and with the time remaining, construct a thesis to the essay prompt.

Tuesday- Students will take notes on Adjectives and Nouns used as Adjectives, begin constructing an outline for the first essay. Adjective Homework (Due Thursday).

Wednesday- Students will construct 2 practice thesis and continue work on their essay. Early Release.

Thursday- Students will construct an additional 2 practice thesis and begin constructing an introductory paragraph.

Friday- Students will record notes on an Allusion and continue work on their essay.

English I Pre-AP, Week 7

Monday- Students will respond to a Robert Frost quote. We will then view a prezi over the objectives we will cover in our first full analysis of “The Cask of Amontillado” and “The Tell Tale Heart.”

Tuesday- Students will complete a Parts of Speech handout and complete the prezi. We will begin discussion of recurring themes within classic literature.

Wednesday- Students will write 2 practice thesis and continue our discussion of “The Cask of Amontillado” and “The Tell Tale Heart.”

Thursday- Students will compose 2 additional thesis. Socratic Seminar.

Friday- Students will submit their analysis of “Cask” and “Heart.” First essay will be assigned.

English I, Week 7

Monday- Students will respond to a quote by poet Robert Frost. We will then read and SIFT analyze Denise Levertov’s poem “The Sharks.”

Tuesday- Students will complete a parts of speech handout. We will then read and SIFT analyze “Caged Bird” by Maya Angelou and Tupac’s “Mama.”

Wednesday- Students will write 2 practice thesis. Then, groups will work on 1 of 4 poem groupings using SIFT independently.

Thursday- Students will write 2 additional practice thesis. Then, groups will complete work on 1 of 4 poem groupings using SIFT independently.

Friday- Students will complete Allusion #7 and submit group poetry SIFTs. Essay #1 will be assigned.

English I Pre-AP, Week 6

Monday- We will review the first test and discuss objectives for review.

Tuesday- Students will take a Re-Test over the objectives from the first test in an attempt to show progress in the objectives for Unit 1.

Wednesday- Students will discuss thesis writing and present Unit 1 Projects.

Thursday- Students will take notes on thesis writing and begin “The Cask of Amontillado.”

Friday- Students will complete “The Cask of Amontillado” and discuss recurring themes in Poe’s works.

Monday- Students will begin by relating a 9/11 quote with our Unit Theme of Survival. Students will then discuss the events of 9/11 and present Current Events.

Tuesday- Students will complete a comma mini lesson and continue work on their projects. Students will be assigned “The Tell Tale Heart”

Wednesday- Students will respond to a survival question and continue work on their projects.

Thursday- Students will respond to a What If? question and continue work on their projects.

Friday- Students will take notes on the allusion on Munch’s The Scream and may either complete the final Lion Saver Scope or complete work on their projects.
